The HTML export focuses on document meaning rather than Word's exact page design. Heading styles become HTML headings, paragraphs remain paragraphs, lists become lists, and tables become HTML tables. Document text is escaped before export so it cannot become active markup.
A clean starting point for the web
Word's page layout and the web's responsive layout solve different problems. This tool deliberately produces a simple page that is easier to edit than a pixel-for-pixel recreation full of inline positioning.
What is preserved
Headings, ordinary paragraphs, bold, italic, underline, basic lists and tables are represented. Images, floating objects, headers, footers, footnotes, comments, macros and advanced fields are not exported.
