DOCX Converter — Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about formats, quality, privacy and how DOCX Converter works.
General
What is a DOCX file?
DOCX is a packaged Office Open XML word-processing document. It can contain structured text, styles, relationships, tables, media and document settings.
Is docx-converter.com Microsoft?
No. This is an independent conversion and information site and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Microsoft.
Which tool should I use?
Choose PDF for sharing and printing, TXT for unformatted words, HTML for web editing, or PDF to DOCX when you need to edit a text-based PDF.
Do these tools support legacy .doc files?
No. Open the file in a compatible word processor and save it as .docx first.
Are conversions pixel-perfect?
No converter can promise that for every document. Complex Word features and PDF reconstruction can change layout, so review important output.
Are files retained permanently?
No. Conversion jobs use temporary storage and expire after the configured retention window.
DOCX to PDF
Does this support the older .doc format?
No. Save a legacy .doc as .docx in Word, LibreOffice, or another compatible editor before uploading.
Will the PDF match Word exactly?
Common document structure is retained, but this is not a pixel-perfect Microsoft Word renderer. Complex columns, floating objects, custom fonts, macros, and advanced fields may be simplified.
Can I convert several DOCX files?
Yes. Each document becomes its own PDF and a multi-file job is delivered as a ZIP.
Does conversion change my original file?
No. The original DOCX stays untouched; the tool creates a separate output file.
DOCX to TXT
Does it extract text from tables?
Yes. Table cells are written as tab-separated text rows.
Are images converted?
No. TXT is text-only, so images and visual formatting are omitted.
Which text encoding is used?
The downloaded file uses UTF-8.
DOCX to HTML
Can I paste the output directly into a CMS?
Open the HTML in an editor and copy the body content if your CMS expects a fragment rather than a complete page.
Does the HTML include Word's original styling?
No. It uses small, readable defaults and semantic elements instead of reproducing Word's page layout.
Is document text treated as code?
No. Text is escaped during conversion, preventing document content from becoming active HTML or script.
PDF to DOCX
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Not unless the scan already has a searchable text layer. Image-only pages require OCR.
Will every element be editable?
Text and tables are reconstructed where possible. Some artwork and highly designed page elements may remain images or shift.
Why can the layout change?
PDF records finished page placement, not the original Word editing structure, so the converter must infer paragraphs, columns and tables.
